When I drove up the country lane to Houchins Farm wedding venue in Cholchester, Essex, my heart skipped a beat. I was there to photograph the wedding of Robin and Clare, and it was my first visit to this beautiful modern barn conversion, which mixed a contemporary feel with a rustic charm. I could clearly see why they were a finalist in the Essex Wedding of the Year Awards in 2016.
The gardens were in bloom, the sun was shining and bridal prep was in full swing in the farm house adjacent to the barn on my arrival – all makings of a great day ahead. Robin and Clare are people with big hearts. They have the ability to make everyone feel like a long lost friend, with banter and laughter flowing naturally wherever they go. They both gave me free reign and any suggestion I made was answered by a resounding “yes!”, which meant it was not only a dream to work with them but they gave me every opportunity to take the best possible photos of their day.
What I loved about this venue is that although it was a barn, it was converted into a bright airy space which means the best of both worlds. The rustic charm of the wood and farm, balanced by the high ceilings and white walls, creates a clean canvas and bright feel, which compliments my style so well. The added bonus is the outside marquee set on the grounds, which is licensed for ceremonies.
For any bride looking for a blank canvas and great customer service I can highly recommend this venue and look forward to returning a second time later this year! To Robin and Clare (and the bump who is soon joining the family!) – this ones’ for you x
Lovely wedding and some amazing photos. Everyone looked stunning and looked like they had a great time. Congratulations to Clare and Robin and all the best to them in the future.
